Micro-Mesh Samples

The following data is presented as Additional materials for the Siggraph 2023 paper
Micro-Mesh Construction.

It is a collection of Micro-Meshes automatically generated with our algorithm. To visualize it with our preview tool, unzip the files in any folder and open the .gltf file.

The data we provide is compliant with the Micro-Mesh specification and uses glTF extensions to specify representation-specific attributes, which are stored in a .bary file that matches the GPU micro-mesh memory image verbatim. Our preview tool parses the data and converts it to a standard representation for visualization purposes, bypassing the need for dedicated hardware support.

The table below reports for each sample a link to the original 3D model used as input to our micro-mesh generation method, the output number of micro-triangles, the compression ratio of the Micro-mesh represenation, and the Micro-mesh and input mesh memory footprint in MBs. All displacement are quantized to 11 bits per micro-vertex, tightly packed in a binary data blob. We also provide performance measurements for these models in a separate spreadsheet.
